LEATHER GUIDE

VEGETABLE TANNING PROCESS

We use the finest leather from France, Italy and Spain, and we craft it using a method known as vegetable tanning. This is an ancient process that uses only natural materials like tree bark and natural oils, making it environmentally friendly and conducive to our health.

In our leather crafting process, we utilize liquids derived from plants including fruits, leaves and tree bark. These are often sourced from oak or acacia trees. Tannic acid, which is crucial for treating the natural collagen in the leather is extracted from these plants. It binds to collagen, altering the leather’s structure and imparting toughness, water resistance and antibacterial properties which makes it durable.

The vegetable tanning process takes approximately three months, unlike the faster yet less eco-friendly chrome tanning process. We prioritize crafting durable products responsibly.
